I know some of you are thinking, "I just voted a few weeks ago. Why do I have to vote again?"
In our system of government, we have what are called primaries, or preliminary elections. In races with too many candidates, these special elections are held to kick out the hilarious novelty candidates and narrow the race down to people with serious ideas. Sometimes that doesn't work, and we're left with a slightly smaller field of people you wouldn't want to be stuck sitting next to on a transatlantic flight.
Every so often, though, there are candidates who actually make you feel like they'll be capable of doing something other than covering their own asses and lining their own pockets. This is one of those rare times.
If you voted in the primary and feel like Tuesday's results are a foregone conclusion without your participation, vote anyway. The conventional wisdom was wrong in the last election. Let's not screw this up.
