Okay, so she wasn't an actual, physical giant. But her reputation was giant, and she wrote an incredible array of literature - not just for kids and young adults.
Nonetheless, Madeleine L'Engle was primarily known for herĀ "A Wrinkle in Time" series, chronicling the adventures of Meg, Charles Wallace and other members of the Murray clan. She was a prolific and skilled author, and a captivating speaker. Her characters, at least to a kid with too much imagination, often seemed more real (not to mention more human) than many of the kids encountered on the playground.
If you read Madeleine L'Engle and loved her, today's a good day to revisit an old favorite, in rememberance of her and in honor of her passing of natural causes, at age 88, yesterday. If you've never read any of her work get thee to a bookstore!
