Okay, enough of this political stuff...
In my discussions with 1970's Abe Lincoln I've been informed that Hello Fitchburg is open to all kinds of stuff. Not merely local jibber-jabber, but the kind of stuff that people who have a modicum of intellectual curiosity (and potentially even a sense of humor) would enjoy reading.
So here's something not really local, but at least humorous.
There are a whole lot of really excellent web comics out there. Too many to count, never mind read. So your favorite may be different, but here are six web comics I find myself recommending to people. (In no particular order)
(Incidentally, those of you using Firefox can right-click on the images and select "View Image" to see the full-size comics. Presumably IE people can do it too somehow...)

Dinosaur Comics:

Okay, the art in every single one of the thousand-plus strips of Dinosaur Comics is exactly the same. So what? If you cared about artistic
talent you wouldn't waste your time looking at webcomics. It's the writing that nails this one. Smart, clever, and genuinely funny every time.
And if that's not enough, there are three Easter eggs on every page! Brilliant stuff!

Overcompensating

I know what I just said about art not mattering in webcomics, but I really like this guy's artistic style. This is also one of the few comics that can raise political points while still being funny. I ripped it off one day when I said I like to celebrate the 4th of July by eating "Freedom Tacos" made of eagle meat. I pretended it was my own idea, but I ripped it off from this comic. Now anyone I said that to who reads this will think less of me, but for that one brief moment I felt funny.

The work of KC Green

KC Green does a bunch of comics, all of them both crazy and (at least to me) hilarious. All the new stuff ends up on this livejournal thingy. Horribleville is probably my favorite, but they're all highly entertaining. Varying art styles, varying themes, lots of stuff that will probably leave you scratching your head. Save yourself the grief of having to ever visit livejournal and just pick up the RSS feed. (Actually do that with all these comics, they all have them!)

xkcd

Back to artistic talent not mattering too much. xkcd is basically stick figures. It's also pretty nerdy, self-described as "A webcomic of romance,
sarcasm, math, and language." For those who are into programming, Linux, internettery or just about any other nerdy pursuit it's a godsend. There's more to it than that, but it's clear the creator is a nerd. It's also surprisingly touching and romantic at times, thereby finally proving that nerds are by far the world's best lovers. Seriously.

White Ninja Comics

Crudely-drawn, sometimes nonsensical, but featuring a ninja! Although he doesn't really seem to be all that effective a ninja. Mostly he just does normal stuff in a weird way. Not even a ninja way. But he's a ninja, honest!

A Softer World

A webcomic without a bit of drawing in it. It's all photographs and text, but it's oddly compelling. The text is vaguely poetic, while still managing to be humorous (most of the time). It can be a little inconsistent, with some strips being fantastic while others just sort of elicit a "meh.." This isn't one of my very favorites, but I put it here for the artsy-fartsy types who might really get into it. It's definitely worth a look. Unfortunately, it only updates about once a week.
So there you have it, six webcomics that I find entertaining. There are hundreds more out there if these aren't to your tastes, and since a lot of these sites have links to other comics I'd highly recommend checking some of those out.
Also, keep in mind that a lot of webcomic authors add additional jokes in the alt-text of images. Hold your mouse over them for a moment to see it. And if you like these comics, subscribe to their RSS feeds! You can do it easily through Firefox, or there are any number of standalone programs that can do it for you. It's much easier to follow a good comic that way than it is to check back every day!
Enjoy!
